UPC Pastor's Wife Cut her hair? « Thread Started on Oct 21, 2009, 12:35pm »
What would you do if you came to your Apostolic UPC church on Sunday morning and your pastor's wife had not just trimmed but actually had her hair professionally cut and styled into layers? That is what happened to me. Her and her sister in law which is the wife of the other primary minister in the church. I'm so hurt because they upheld this standard for all my life, (I've been going there since I was a little girl) but now the pastor has started preaching grace, which I do believe in, but I also believe in holiness standards! How could they do this and can I possibly still go to church there. The next closest apostolic church is a 30 minute drive.

Wow....my heart breaks for you. Personally I would happily drive 30 minutes to a church that preaches truth. These are the last days.....no time to compromise now. If you think it broke your heart to see two leaders with cut hair, it will only get worse now. They are the leaders. The "flock" will soon follow suit. I'm sure the teenagers will be first in line. Get out now is my advice, especially if you have children. I too believe in grace.....and I also believe in a higher standard for the ministry. Your leadership is backsliden.....they may not know it but in your heart of hearts you do. Run don't walk. Resist the urge to gossip about this to others of likeminded faith. There's enough of that going on. Just leave quietly and pray that the chruch 20 miles away is holding on to their standards. In Jesus Name.

Happyupcgal, I agree with PlainlyJane, but, where are we going to go when there's no place to run to...TO THE ROCK CHRIST JESUS! HE'S THE FIRM FOUNDATION! MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS THAN JESUS' BLOOD AND RIGHTEOUSNESS! I DARE NOT TRUST THE SWEETEST FRAME, BUT WHOLLY LEAN ON JESUS' NAME! Make sure your anchor holds and grips that solid Rock_THAT ROCK IS JESUS! Let God be true and every man be a liar! BUT, I believe there are still some godly people who will stand for HOLINESS and that not all UPC is bad. As for these two ministers wives who sought strength from one another to offend the 'body of Christ' and the minister who is changing the WORD of God to suit his own lust...the scripture came to me is: Proverbs 11:21 "Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered." Stay righteous, as Plainly Jane said...Don't smear them, pray for them and let God deliver you!!!! IN JESUS NAME!

Sister, I pass 4 Apostolic UPC churches to get to the church I attend 35 minutes from my home. I do this because of the standards that I know are true and because I know I would be one of the first in line if the Bible magically changed to read that a woman doesn't need power with the angels, and a covering on my head is no longer necessary... I know that's not going to happen, and I know my pastor and his wife aren't going to start trying to make me believe that it's OK to backslide. before I moved, my drive was almost an hour to church, God is worth the sacrifice of that drive.... He's worth so much more than that, just for leading me to truth and keeping me there (even when my stubborn old flesh wanted to get in the way)
I'll be praying for this situation and I'll be praying for you sister, for God's guidance in your decision.

Okay, apparently I'm behind the times and just got the time to reply to this, but I agree. Run, run, run, fast! I drive 30 minutes to my church, but it is worth it. If it means living right and salvation, it's worth it.
